need info on Dinan Stage II chip and others
well i've had this chip in for more than five years (94GSR) but i realized recently that i don't know what the vtec x-over is set at. anyone know? if i had to guess i would say they probably left it at the stock setting. i want to optimize my car for the skunk2 intake manifold i'm getting (i have head job, JDM ITR valvetrain, etc.). what's the consensus on optimum x-over for that setup? i read somewhere 4800. i only have so much money, but i know you're all gonna recommend a new ECU and a V-AFC. anyone using an ECU from jdmhondaparts.com? looks like they know what they're doing (i think i would choose 8800 and 5400):
Single-butterfly
JHP Program Name: FF Special.1
ECU Type: P28/ P30 JDM & US/ P61/P72 VTEC ECU's
ECU Year(s): 92-95 [SOHC+DOHC] VTEC ECU
OBD-?: OBD-1
Rev Limiter Range: choose rev limiter: 8800, 9200, 9500 RPM
Speed Limiter: No speed limiter
Vtec Crossover: choose one: 5400 or 5700 RPM
Disabled Sensors: Knock Sensor only
Fuel/Timing Maps: Optimized
Symptoms (if any): None reported so far. Some gas mileage is lost due to the optimized fuel maps.
Notes/Suggestions: This program by far, is the most wanted OBD-1 program we sell. This program not only works on DOHC VTEC ECU's, but converts OBD-1 P28 SOHC VTEC ECU's to DOHC VTEC spec.
The program is designed for single-butterfly intake manifolds [exludes 94+ GSR intake manifold].
This program is best tuned with the aide of an electronic fuel controller (ie. V-AFC, SFC, etc) and a dyno to gain maximum power.

honestly the programs suck big time. I've dyno'd a few of their programs vs. the mugen and others, it's garbage. The ones I have are so much better int he midrange and top end. VTEC is stock setting ont he dinan prog.

I don't think you need to buy a new ECU. I know with mine, I can convert the ECU back to stock config by cutting and isolating a wire on the ECU..Ask Dinan..or look up on ur manual..maybe it's the same.
