Default keep JRSC or go Spec C all motor

I currently have a JRSC at 6psi on a 00 si with i/h/e. I made 188whp untunned and ran constant 14.9 high wind, no traction.
This is the second time I broke my motor, last time was blown pistons, bent valves, bad rod bearings. This time my bottom end is messed up, don't know what yet but probably knock bearing or something.

I have a chance to buy my friend's fully build head with toda spec C, toda cam gears, toda valve springs, ferria valves, port and polish, milled. I would probably get his extrudehone itr manifold, rpm throttle body etc. With a stock GSR bottom end, stock pistons, stock bottom end.

Should I do that or stay with my JRSC and do boost upgrade (10 or 8.5) and get hondata, all thats needed to get boost upgrade and 220whp range.

What do you guys think I should do?? keep my JRSC or go spec C all motor??

I'm considering the all motor option because I want relibilty and I have to rebuild my b16 again (bottom end at least).

I might switch the spec C for skunk stage 2's because of tunning issues. Not many people have the Spec C so I'm not sure if I can get it tuned the best it can get.

I also heard that spec C puts a lot of stress on the valvetrain and would have to be changed more often. and I would have to be at a higher compression for spec C cams?? like around 11 something??

Please give me any suggestions or comments.

Thats a tough call. You should watch yourself about the C's, I've heard of people having clearance issues with them in B16s. With the C's you'd need at least 11:1 compression, and the cams would do thier best with 12+:1.

Well I would go all motor, but thats me. You should make this decision based on your preferences.

I have seen videos of people running spec c's and have a fairly smooth idle, its all just a matter of good tuning.

As for compression, I would suggest going a lot higher than 11:1. Something more like 12:1. These cams really like high compression.

since the spec C needs higher compression should I go with LS block that's already build up at 12.1 or go with a stock gsr block and get skunk stage 2 cams instead?
how long does Ls/vtec usually last? 40,000-100,000??

LS or gsr block...block guard...forged rods and pistons. whatever head u want but with some mild cams (ctr/itr). and you know what this all leads to.......120 shot

lol..bump.

With the C's, I would definately go with a B18C block just because it has such better engine geometry than the LS/VTEC. I know C's on a B16 stop making power at 9700, so its probably right around there or a little less for a B18C. People have enough problems with LS/VTECs revving to 8000, it just seems logical in my opinion to start with a block that was designed for high RPM.

All motor, I'd go gsr bottm end. they are meant for revving past 8000. The B18C1 rod ratio is prime for revving also. the B18a/b/B20z/b/ rod ratio isnt the best for high rpm. Too high of piston speed.
However, Ls Vtec JRSC'ed cars rip.
I know of one personally and it pulled on a ws-6 on the freeway to 140 or so.
It was a 95 gsr(2nd motor in car) body w/leather and (3) 12"s in a heavy box
just dont rev very high, maybe 7400 at most and make all sorts of TORQUE
get It sleeved with 9:1 forged pistons and rods for the ultimate engine
or tune very carefully on the stock bottom end and pray
good luck

As mentioned, keep in mind the other things you will need to run the C's, especially high compression. The head sounds great, but you will also want to upgrade the timing belt. Toda parts that are properly installed are quite reliable, IMO.

I'm most likely to switch the spec C for some skunk stage 2 because I don't have the money to build my block to 12.1 compression, maybe in the future.

i was wondering if it's alright for me to put skunk stage 2 cams in a not skunk2 valvetrain and toda cam gears?? would I still need the toda timing belt?

thanks
