Irritating Sunday, exhaust pic, and exhaust question...
Well woke up yesterday with plans of installing some goodies on my car, I was super excited, get stuff on this weekend be ready for an autocross next weekend. So I thought.
First off exhaust, T1R b-pipe and Spoon N1, this went fairly well but this is where my question is. The stock axle back bolts on to the b pipe w/ a couple bolts w/ springs and there is a self locking nut welded onto the b pipe, the T1R b pipe has no such bolt. I ended up just using a couple bolts I had lying around and got them together as tight as I could. Should I have used the spring bolts? Here's a pic of how I have it hooked up and a final pic:

The car sounds good aside for the mind numbing rattles from the b pipe sitting against the heat shield
Guess I'll have some dremel trimming to do this week.
Okay next up was my Zeal B2 install, I figured piece of cake, wrong! Got the left rear on no biggie, like 15 min. Move to the right rear and oh brother here come the headaches. Ended up rounding off the right rear LCA bolt now I'm gonna have to drill that bolt out
Ended up taking the one Zeal I had on back off and now I'm still on stock susp.
Lastly a decided to rip out my rear interior (Thanks Ferrell) and had a rear strut bar to install. As you might expect this is the only thing that went off without a hitch

Oh well no Zeals but I do have a new exhaust

you should have used the spring bolts, you can go to a hardware store and get the nuts if not at any auto parts place. it looks like you bent the flange on the axel back.
Chris, it looks great. Iggy is right, you can just go to any home depot or hardware store and grab some nuts/bolts/washers and you should be set. I stripped the threads on the b-pipe side of my stock exhaust and IM just using thinner bolts and nuts to hold my exhaust together.

I think it's just he picture I thought the same thing, but if you do look closely the flange is bent.

It looks like it's sitting OUT and to the left. It does not look like it's even straight. Kinda aimed side ways like the n1 but the other way.

You use spring bolts if its a flex joint. if its not you dont.
Stock is flex most aftermarket are not.
Anyone know which the T1R is?

The first T1R, like Ross', used spring bolts since they necked down to use the stock donut (2"). I believe the new T1Rs are 2-1/2" OD t this joint and therefore are probably just a flat flange. The last Spoon N1 axle back I saw was also Ross' which was built to bolt to the stock exhaust. In this case the flange is formed to match the stock donut and is actually smaller than the 63.5mm (2-1/2") tubing. From what I remember there is little space left on the flange that could possibly seal againstaflat flange of a B pipe if the proper gasket was used.

It is offcenter along with everyone else's that is using a T1R bpipe.
My T1R catback is slightly offcenter also.

with the stripped interior you must be in SMC for autocross....that must be pretty tough competition. how do you do in this class?? the M3's must kill you...
rounded the head off the LCA bolt?
bah!
dremel two flats on it and use a crescent wrench or vice grips!
dremel two flats on the threaded end too to use vice grips on each end!
good luck bro.
alwasy some problems though, right?!

Looks really good Chris.
He hasn't Auto-xed it with that Set-up yet. But it doesn't matter because everyone kills him no matter what class he is in =P

This is something I won't do a suspension install without. Looks cheap costs little money but puts down enough forces a lot of air tolls can't get stuff it tightened loose. Definitely worth the $20.
BTW you can burn the motor up I am on myu second one.

I'll lend mine out to anyone close enough to pick it up f you want to try it out. I swear by this thing. Portable, easy to use and will compete with most air tools. Never stripped a rusty b pipe bolt since I found this tool either.

Hell yeah I did my suspension install at Trey's house and used that thing on my rear LCA bolts. It got those 8-yr old bolts out w/o a hitch, no problems at all (along w/ a healthy dose of PB Blaster).

Nope, I'm running in CSP. Competition is stiff but I really not to get too caught up in competing, I'm just there to have fun
Thanks for the tip Trey, I'll have to make a run to Harbor Freight, for $20 you can't go wrong
