Warranty Question..
Hey there,
I was wondering if your warranty becomes void if you do any mods to your car such as cold air intake or exhaust? I've heard mix responses from my friends, so hopefully you guys will know. Oh yeah, I've got a 5th generation Prelude.. 99 model if that helps..
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

this is what i got from the jackson racing website(http://www.jacksonracing.com/pages/faq.html#warranty)
Q: Will my factory warranty be void? Back to Top
A: It is illegal for a Dealership to void your warranty simply because you have modifications to your vehicle. It is the Dealerships responsibility to prove that any modification was the reason for a failure. With that said, some Dealerships are more performance oriented and willing to work with customers. It would be our suggestion to consult with your local Dealership regarding their warranty specifics.

I think basic bolt on's should be just fine because the dealership down here sells AEM CAI's.

Different dealerships have stupid regulations upon breaking warranties.
If I were u leave it stock if your gonna worry about a warranty.

The law here, in CA, is that the burdon of proof lies with the dealership to prove, beyond doubt, that the modification you performed are the root cause of the failure, and even then only the the component that you replaced w/ an aftermarket piece (i.e. cat-back exh, header, etc.) are no longer covered under warranty, the rest of the car is indeed covered UNLESS the dealer can unequivically prove that your header blew your headgasket (just as an example.)
Some body needs a math lesson here....
Honda's warranty: 3 years or 36k miles, whichever occurs first.
The car is a 1999 MY car. 2003 - 1999 = 4.
Your warranty is already expired anyway.
If and when the dealer voids your warranty (say on your new S2000?), it's up to the dealer's discretion. Some dealers are so mod friendly that they sell aftermarket parts and install them for you (for a fee, of course). For example, my local dealer will install a turbo kit in a Civic without voiding your warranty. BUT, you have to let the dealer install it for you. So... It's all up to the dealer.
Edit: Ok, maybe your bought the car in late 2000, but still it's only a couple months away of expiring. Don't worry about the warranty, just start modding it!
