Autocross in car video- my B18C5 powered EK hatch
Here is some in car footage from the Dual At De Anza autocross here in the Bay Area.
Small course on an autox held once a year. Very popular. 275 cars max. I got in line at 4:45AM and was 162 in line!
You get 3 laps in a row. 1st lap is practice and 2nd and 3rd laps combined are your time. I don't know how I placed yet. Quickest time of the day was a 62.xx I believe. I ran a 65.7x The majority of the cars are in the 70s. The audience will clap if you are fast
You will need Windows Media Player 9 or the 9 codecs.

Yeah, and it took me 1.5 hours to get there.
Going to sleep at 1am and then waking up at 3am to stand in line from 445am to 730am and to finally race at 1230 for about 90 seconds. Well worth it though. There is something about the Dual at DeAnza that draws a sellout every year.

I dont have power steering. You can see just how shitty the EK non-ps racks are.
I swear, before going into the middle z-slalom section, I have to turn the wheel at least 2 full times! I actually just let go and get on the gas to straigten it out, then have to grab it to change directions.
Once the car is moving, it is very easy to steer. Parking is another thing.

i don't have power steering, and parking really isn't a problem. but i know how it feels, and what you just did looks like a lot of work
also, one of my concerns would be corners. like, if i was going around a turn pretty fast, and had to shift, i don't know if i would be able to hold the wheel with 1 hand. it would probably break free

Once I goto second gear, I just stay in second. It is very hard to hold your line in an autox and have to shift. So far this year, I haven't hit the limiter in 2nd gear, but I have been pretty damn close.

you too. You should get an SCCA membership and make it out to the regular autox's, tracks are much bigger.
