Default B16a1/B16a2 hybrid is this possible?

I have read another thread on here about the differences between the a1 and a2 B16 motors. I have a B16a2 and the rings are shot to hell.
As the a1 engine has different pistons and lower compression ratio, If I fit my B16a2 head which is polished. ported and milled(?) down, will this offset what compression I would lose from the pistons?
Obvioisly I would use my a2 cams as they are higher lift and longer duration.

Please don't flame me, as over here in England auto shops charge the earth to work on motors if they are japanese and parts are way expensive. The a1's go for half the price of a2's.
I just want an easy fix and have the same power I enjoy now.

Thanks in advance!

You can do that. You can also get a some CTR pistons. Raise your compression. Milling the head is fine, aslong as you know how far to go. Your plans sounds reasonable enough.

Thing is over here (UK) CTR pistons are near impossible to find and would cost the same as a house!

Any one have anything I may need to take into consideration?

Figure out the shipping and a bunch of people from here will start sending you parts. We don't mind getting British Pounds.

Thats very kind of you.

How much do they go for over there?
I would have to buy new rings, but would I need to do anything with the bores?

Also, I'm not sure what the European B16A2 motor's compression is, but over here it is 10.2:1 which is exactly what the B16A1 motor's compression is. SO more than likely, you won't be losing any compression. Now, I guess you could have 10.4:1, but it's not that big of a difference.

You can find brand new CTR pistons for $250 US dollars here.
