Default Running high compression with stock cams?

So its like this

car:99 si coupe
motor:b16a2
problem:1.6 torque =

plans: drop 1.8 gsr block with std size ctr pistons w/ mugen head gasket

question: I was wondering if it would be safe to run high compression on the stock b16 cams, my funds are a bit little to do everything at once. I plan to add in bigger cams with valvetrain but I dont know which is the best way to go first or is it better to do EVERYTHING at once?

Also I know of some issues with the vavle to piston clearance issues. I plan on running skunk2 stage 2 cams with full valvetrain. Any key pointers that I should be aware of?

Sorry if I sound newbish because I am, I just dont wanna rush into building my motor because unsure decisions cost more money in the long run and I wanna learn as much as I can before I dive into my motor's internals.

Thanks in advance

High compression with stock cams will not hurt anything. Just don't go crazy.
