Default Curiousity Question on head gaskets

I realize that a thinner head gasket increases compression. I guess if I were go to from OEM 3 layer to say a single layer head gasket, I guess that would net me around 0.4 in my compression ratio. Is that a difference at all? How much could this be felt? Is it safe to put a thinner headgasket into a stock INTERNAL setup? Is there any reason to do this? I'm just curious.
