Default Clicks while turning

Im almost positive the problem is my cv joints. when i turn either way, there is a clicking noise. It started only when i turned one way and now clicks when i steer either way. This has been happening for a long time and im just getting around to fixing it.

My question is what do i have to replace? Just the axles? And I need a 36 mm socket correct?

One more question, it is a 36 mm right? I went to sears and they didnt have it, have to order from catalog i guess.

I just looked at a How-to post by Tom ( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=382564) and he says a 32mm. Is it different for the ITR axles?

my god. this guy's the best. not only does he use the search feature BEFORE asking a question, but he actually finds something and helps himself out. And not only that, he doublechecks just to make sure. What a good post. Not like those other idiots who are like "How much does a civic EX weigh?" without looking at "zerosearch". GOOD JOB!

cv joint = constant velocity joint... or your axles.
Common causes of failure include old age, torn boots that cover the joint. When torn the grease escapes and debris from the road can get in causing excessive wear. Also another known killer of cv joints is too much traction. I.E lots of power (in the form of turbo,sc,n20,etc) and slicks usually spell death for stock axles.

I'm touched the axle nut twice.
Once on a 96 civic, and once on a 90 teg.
If you can't find a 36mm.
Go to auto zone, and get yourself a 1/4 size socket.
Thats what i did, and it worked like a charm.

note: YOu will need a long as azz bar, or something like that, you will NEVER ever get it to open with just your average wrech. Trust me i know

On my civic it's a 32mm. I always thought they were all 32mm but a couple of you guys are saying 36mm.

O yea alittle off topic maybe, but what did you guys use to punch in the axle nut after you torqued it down. I tried a flat head screw driver but that didn't work out so i'm just driving around with it torqued down. Was gonna go out and buy a center punch but decided to ask you guys first.

Maybe i will just buy the 32 and if not right, just return it. Got the huge breaker bar, hope that will work.
