Default Overheating problems, need help.

Ok heres the situation whenver my car is stopped after driving, like at a red light, the engine temperature just shoots up. Usually it wont go all the way to the point of overheating because i start moving again but still it shouldnt be doing that at all. I replaced the fan motor this morning and the fan kicks in my engine just doesnt cool off. I was hoping someone on here could clue me in on what the problem might be and ho to go about fixing it. Thanks for any help.

How's the radiator fluid? You could have a leak. Or you may need to change your thermostat. Is the radiator old?

theres plenty of fluid, i havent noticed any leaks, maybe its clogged i dunno. the upper hose gets hot which according to the manual i have means it is flowing coolant. so i know its getting coolant its just not enough i think. either the pump is broke/clogged, or the radiator is clogged. its a fairly new radiator, less than a year ago. i dunno gonna try a few things tomorrow and if it dont work im gonna have to take it to the mechanic cuz i need my car to be reliable.

try this to see if ur head gasket is busted,
Take off ur radiator cap and start the engine. If coolant flys out then ur head gasket is cracked

if coolant is flowing before the temp needle passes the 1/2 mark the thermostat is not the problem
