this may seem like a dum question but can one mono amp power 2 subwoofers? and do anyone know where to find good 1000 watt mono amps for a good price?

Yes it can, all you have to do is make sure that the amp can handle the ohm load of more than one speaker. I have seen one 1000 watt mono amp power 4 DVC 10's. It is all in the wiring.

If you run the voice coils in a series/parallel connection it will work just fine (depending on the amp and subs)

I would recomend any Memphis Amp.....they work very well!
