Optimal Oil Viscosity for my GS?
I tried a search, but didn't come up with much that pertained to my situation. I've got a '98 GS and i live in MD so it's going to start getting warm/hot out soon (hopefully...). The car's got about 87,xxx miles, mostly highway, and it doesn't burn any oil. Normally i just use the recommended 5W30 but i heard it's a good idea to up the viscosity a little in warm/hot weather. What do you recommend i should use?
5w-30 is recommended by honda, but if you want a little thicker oil, then go for 10w-30. and dont use any of that high mileage crap, stick to regular oil, o use castrol gtx.
I'm running 5W30 Castrol GTX and it's works just fine. Motor's got 145K on it and I burn about 1/2 quart of oil every 3K. That includes autocross racing.
Ever since i got my car, March '02, i've been using Castrol Syntec Blend. Is that good, or should i just use GTX? and it's ok to switch back and forth like that right?

If you can afford it and like to use a sny. blend, you;re fine. I ran Mobil 1 for years but I couldn't afford the $4 a quart the longer I went through college. I when back to GTX and haven't noticed anything different. I might burn alittle less GTX than Mobil 1 but that's it.
