Default any d series specialists?

i'm somewhat new to the import world and just bought a 2001 civic hx. i understand the basics and have a good idea of when people are blowing smoke up my ***. i don't see myself slapping t4 blowdryer to it anywhere n the near future, but am just now planning to start my first phase of engine mods. i'm looking for anyone who knows a good bit about d series motors or even better, works on them more than their b-series siblings to help me started in the right direction and where to find parts.

Im not a specialist or anything, but the engine you have is so new that there is not much out there. I would recommend the intake, header, exhaust route, but if im not mistaken the cat is right where the header would normally go. That make conventional designs usless. I do not know if the aftermarket has come up with much for the car. I do know that ground control has some coilovers available. Dc sports for an exhaust maybe.Sorry and good luck.

So far I've heard that some intrepid souls have figured out a way past the catalytic converter issue. I'll see if I can dig up a contact for you if you give me a minute.

Ahh, here it is. Wings West created a show car based on the 2001 Civic EX. I'm not sure if you'll have much for an HX, but anyway... they have Daytona bucket seats, a Sherwood Dash carbon-fiber interior package, APC indiglo gauge faces (whoop-de-doo), a Nitrous Express 50-shot (sounds like a good idea on your car), a DC Sports stainless-steel header, an AEM cold-air intake and underdrive pulleys, and a Magnaflow cat-back dual exhaust. You can also get Eibach suspension kits including springs, sway bars, and DC sports strut and tie bars.

That's all I can see. HTH.

if you want real power, don't waste your money on intakes, headers, and exhaust. i won't repeat that. many of us have been there...you'll end up wanting to ditch that shi-. don't waste your money on pretty anodized fueling stuff ie. regulators, fuel rails or cam gears. honestly, get a nitrous kit if you can't afford a compression bumper (pistons, turbo, supercharger). if you want to be fast with a single cam, your car must be very light! and you have to somehow increase compression. look into that. i don't mean to be like this but really, don't waste your hard earned money on bolt on's until you raise your compression. it is tough to make a single cam competitive when everyone's going hybrid and even forced induction, nitrous too. good luck sohc warrior.

i appreciate the advice loturbo. i have been considering nitrous for a while. i've also been looking into other various easy to install and play with goodies such as an apexi vtec controller and also getting a ecu from a wrecked civic and sending it to superchips. it doesn't make sense to get a chip until i've at least gotten the basic bolt-ons though, and a vtec-fuel controller won't add that much hp right off either. nitrous is a very good idea economically for me at the moment, but i'm afraid i don't know enough about my engine yet and will probably blow it up with nos.

Dont waste money on VTEC controllers or superchips either. If you want to stay reliable and keep the warranty just do the basic I/H/E. With OBD2+ its tough to squeeze performance from the motor. And with the coil packs, an OBD1 conversion would be tough, but I have a few ideas I'm working on in that dept. If you dont mind a few hassles, then a turbo is the only way to go for ultimate power, plus you save the intake and header money. If you want to go buck wild, wait for RSX motors to pop up in junk yards, or you could swap in one of the d17a2 motors from an EX. That would instantly net you about 20 more horsies.
