Default Stretched head bolts....

Just out of curiousity, what would happen if you installed stock head bolts that were stretched beyond spec?

They would probably snap, and then you would have to drill it out...

Im just curious if it would cause an imperfect torque reading? I torqued a head with 30,xxxkms on it, to a new rebuilt bottom end. Its leaking coolant into the #1,#3,and #4 cylinders. #1 and #4 are really bad.

Both the block and head were decked. But I reused the headbolts and I am wondering if thats my culprit.

No I didnt use the copper spray..

I did and will always use a new OEM head gasket.

This is the third time these bolts have been used and it looks like I will be needing a new head gasket and ARP head studs.

do yourself a favor and get the arp head studs, and use copper spray and make sure the gasket was on the right way
