Default Help with a 89 Honda Brakes.

Having some problems trying to change the brake shoes on this car, and was wondering how in the world do you get off the rear brake drum without taking into a shop.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It will come off. You just have to work it a bit. Crack the bleeder in the rear brake line to relieve some pressure to the shoes. Get a big screwdriver or small prybar and work your way around the drum prying it a little as you go around.

Yea mine were kinda stubborn to come off too. Just have to work it off gradually with a screwdriver. Mine had a thin ring of rust on the inside where the shoes didn't rub, and that didn't make getting it off any easier, lol. Also be sure and keep it as straight as possible... if it goes crooked it won't slide off. Make sure the parking brake is off too, heheh.

Drum brakes are a PITA I'm soooo glad I got the SE-i rear discs... much easier
