P.S. I was being careless (which usually I'm not) so please let me know if I should get it checked or not or what to look for to tell if I damaged it.

yeah that's what I figured but still, it's my baby ya know, so I have to worry! Haha, anyways, I'll just keep an eye on it. I just wanted some reassurance to know I didn't screw up. I'd hate to have to replace the valvetrain, darn, new high performance valvetrain....

you can't go past the rev limiter unless you're a) misshifting or b) running with a removed redline

You should be fine. Just don't do it ever again!

 

And as long as it was only to 8500, that isnt even really that high. Your car is fine.

If you're that paranoid, run a compression test and find out for sure.
