Okay, I revved past rev limiter....
... to about 8500 and I am quite paranoid now. I hope I didn't bend any valves. The car seems to be idling okay. Is there anything I should look for, or did I get lucky and not cause any damage? It's a stock 2000 GS-R by the way. TIA.
P.S. I was being careless (which usually I'm not) so please let me know if I should get it checked or not or what to look for to tell if I damaged it.

yeah that's what I figured but still, it's my baby ya know, so I have to worry! Haha, anyways, I'll just keep an eye on it. I just wanted some reassurance to know I didn't screw up. I'd hate to have to replace the valvetrain, darn, new high performance valvetrain....

revving in neutral?
or misshifting?
you can't go past the rev limiter unless you're a) misshifting or b) running with a removed redline
