Timing Belt Problem
so here it is... the story of my life, snapping timing belts. i have snapped 4 belts int he past two to three months. i have skunk 2 valves, springs, and retainers in my H22. the bottom end is sleeved with JE 9:1 pistons and eagle rods. as of now the car is running boostless cause i cant fix this damn problem. at first i had converted to the H23 manual tensionor. for some reason the tensioner kept running at an angle and it would throw the belt aand grind it down slowly. i tried everything possible to fix it but i just dont know what the hell is going on with it. then i finally switched it back to the auto tensioner after speaking to a few people and the belt popped on me (clean tear). like i stated earlier, im going on my 5th belt, and im considering selling the car because its become too much of a hassle. if i cant fix the problem this time around, a stock motor is going back in the the car is being sold and i may part out my buiult motor. someone please help me. i dont want to get rid of my lude but im a college student at the age of 18 living on my own. its too much money to be shelling out and not even having a ride to school and work. someone please help me.
i think that your problem is a lot of the components on the side of your motor, such as change the tension to brand new, get a new idle tensioner pulley and the idle tensioner pulley bolt, those items could sliightly be bent, so it would put the belt at an angle, not visible to the human eye, maybe change out your rear balance gear set,
I've always been told that if you're not using a stronger aftermarket belt on custom heads (valves, springs etc) that you'll snap them.
Maybe you should try the PE belt? I think Prospeed sells them.

I know what your problem is.
Your tensioner pulley is hitting that little **** because you did not install the washer against the block, thus causing it to run crooked and grind the outside of your belt down slowly. Your problem is you installed it on the outside of the pulley as shown in this picture. I will try and post a better picture if you need one.
