Default Sound Deadening Doors??

I just picked up some Peel and Seal from the local Lowe's and I'm about to do my doors and have some questions. How should I go about doing the metal part because it has all of those wires? Do I just apply the mat around them? Also, should I replace the large plastic piece that covers the metal assembly? Will the Peel and Seal stick to the inside of the door panel (plastic part)? Thanks.

For door dampening, I've always used this stuff from Home Depot called "Great Stuff". It works very well. It's an expanding foam and only costs about $5...compared to Dynomat's brand foam which is around $20. Yikes.
