There are a few ways to go about this...

A nice 4 FOOT (yes FOOT) break bar and have some STAND on the brakes.

OR

Get a set of channel locks from Home Depot (I think they are called "Big Azz"...no joke) and an impact gun.

I know this has been discussed many, many times on the Hybrid board (http://www.hybridforum.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=Tech).

HTH.

EDIT: I can't spell...

First off, his block's out of the car... standing on the brakes would accomplish nothing... heheheh...

Anyway, what I did is wedge a bolt between the teeth of the flywheel and a transmission bolt, then use a 3-ft breaker bar. I'll see if I have a pic.

It's not my idea, that's from the Haynes manual... I don't think there IS an easier way to remove the bolt, unless you have air tools .

I do have air tools....Wal Mart's finest...lol
Needless to say they are worthless at breaking loose stuck bolts...

You'll need at least 125 lbs of pressure in the air tool to get the crank pulley off.

I've heard of 500 lb to 1100 lb tools not getting crank pulleys off...

Go the old fashion way...earn it! Get a ncie big bar, slip it of your rachet and put some even pressure on it.

I wouldn't use a ratchet, I'd use a breaker bar. Unless you have a good ratchet you'll probably break it .

Moroso makes a crank pulley removal tool for Honda 1.6L and Acura 1.8L. it allows you to hold the crank pulley in place while trying to work the bold loose. made my job a lot easier. Summit Racing carries this tool for around $70.

What I did was just stick a screwdriver (craftsmen preffered) thru o ne of the holes in the flywheel and had it lodged against the tranny. Then just use a breaker bar and it should come off
