the abec rating is an industrial scale that, ultimatley, measures a particular bearing's maximum speed tolerance. being a former competitive skater, i KNOW that there is barely any difference between an abec 5 and 7 on skates, and you certainly will not feel it in your shifter. if for some reason the bearings in your current shifter are shot, try to find a skate shop that sells german bearings, or any other greased (as opposed to oiled) bearing. the shields can be metal or plastic, doesn't matter, but in this application greased is better. you may need a shop with a press to put them in - a REAL skate shop should have one.

in short, any abec-rated bearing will do(it will be stamped on the shield). if you wanted to get creative, get some energy suspention shifter bushings - those will make a difference that you can feel.

good question. good luck.

get the lower #ed abec bearing, u don't want to have to take out the bearing and regrease the ***** every year. Sealed bearings would be better, what kinda shifter is this?
go with the energy suspension either way!

well that would explain the inline bearings, wow thats somhting new i guess. Well it sounds like a POS shifter, it may not even work very well. http://www.groupbuycenter.com has some B&M shifters with energy bushings for like $60 shipped. check them out

Inline skating? Abec 7 bearing are worth absolutley nothing in your short shifter. I have about a hundred Bones Swiss bearings in the closet. Send me a couple bucks and I will send some. I skated Inline for a while competively (9 years?), traveled around the country for a while. Were you guys on any teams? I've skated with about half the U.S. Ice team probably, lol (short+long track)

Hellz yeah I use to have abec 3's then upgraded to 5's but yeah the Bones Swiss ones are nice. I use to skate when I was in junior high school until a month before my high school senior prom. My prom date said if I hurt myself doing aggressive inline before the prom she would kill me lol. Wow that was 6 years ago. Scary flashback.

yup, i was a fruitbooter.

lol, back in the day (96?)

i skated almost exclusively on bones swiss my whole skating career, and will skate no other. can't beat em with a stick.

my skunk shifter has bearings in it, and i've seen some cheapo ones in autozone with bearings too.

hey transmission, ever go to 516 ?

Get some Powell Swiss Ceramic bearings. That would do it. I have actually wondered this myself. But the bearing is not moving that much is it?

AHAHAHAHAHAAH are you guys joking me right now.....i got 2 things...1( you could have abec1 bearings and they would feel the same, your not going fast enough to feel diference but it might be smoother, and 2) i still "aggressive inline" i do it so much i bought the game for the days i cant go skate, i was just at a party with arlo eisenburg's exwife and his daughter...i went to his baby shower...well..it wa a baby-q seeing as it was both a shower and a BBQ...Blove, rawlenson riviera, darynforth(who bought GUCCI slippers for an unborn child), bryan smith...there were a lot of the older sneate guys there....i went to see 311 in LA and Blove and bryan smith was there, my aunt knows these guys so i get to meet them.....i was at wendy;s by my house and i met kevin gillan, frankie moralas, BK, and shane saviors, ive talked to arron finburg on the phone, had his phone# for a while...well..stil might if he still lives with kevin and joe navran...i sakte with rashard johnson.....alex maranda sometimes(eyah old school) if any of you guys are southern O.C. cali kids...and skated yearsr ago..like at least 5 or 6 years a go and went to RSA i know scottie nelson a local kid that was sponsored at the age of 10...oh, and roadhouse was hanging out one night drunk off his *** telling my brother to make sure he got **** on tape....hes a good kid...my friend joey got me the greatest christmas gift, a kevan gillan senate shirt...that he had kevin sign for me....if any of you guys are down go to http://www.thedigitalmessiah.com/ its arlo's page..a bit trickey to get in to..just look around for a bit....its his art work and ****...wll it was fun, im off to bed
