OT: Is it just me? When racing, my lower back hurts like hell !?!
It seems that a few times I've race (autoX + one street
) my lower back is killing me after the event. My heart races and it's like I'm getting so much blood flow that just goes straight to my lower back. Does this happen to anyone? Any doctors in the house?

If you can, adjust your lumbar support.. if not get one of those things that old people wear when they garden. Should make you feel a lot better.
Nothing is more annoying then a sore back.

Just try and relax a little..... your to tense.
Read a book while your doing laps... (this helps me out)! Although it is a pain in the butt trying to turn the page and shift gears at the same time.
But seriously... try and relax a little while your pushing your baby to the limits. Your mind set could have something to do with it.
F-bot, Who's tring to relax by kicking Fuminsho in the head...........

You're probably tensing up your torso too much during the quick transitions and G-force turns that are required in autocross. Having a seat that holds you in place - so you don't have to brace yourself with your legs/body will get rid of this (read: the stock seats suck ***)
Maybe try wearing rubber pants in the meantime

Thanks for all your suggestions.
I will definitely try to loosen up in the mean time... and gotta start saving up for a new seat.

Hey Cosworth,
I just thought of something that would really help you out.
exercise. Strengthen you back and lower back area. This will also help with back problem....
F-bot, "Good 'ol fashion exercise mmaannna!".....*takes another swing at Fuminsho's head*

My solution to this was a 5 pt harness. The back used to get real sore cause I was using my left leg, and the dead pedal to keep myself braced. After the 5 pt harness. Now tht the body is secure, it's all focused on the neck . . .
Darn those heavy helmets.
I guess a helmet pad is next . . .

Well, actually, I haven't run or worked out over 4 months since I tore my left upper deltoid. Time to get back in shape.
Poor thing... loll Me, it's my butt that's killing me for a couple days after few laps at the track... Specialy since in running on Kumho V700, I can push the car more and it's me who's taking the beating! In few turns, you really have to fight to stay in the stock seat!
A racing seat, would be nice... but the car is already a thief magnet! So no need attract more thiefs!
I guess I can live with the pain... the joy I'm getting from racing is far greater!

I've noticed the same kind of pain when I race and realized it's almost only when I race, so I figured it was because there's too much excitement going on, which brings alot of stress to the back, so to releive the pain, a bit, you just got to relax and calm down and stop thinking about winning or trying to get the fastest time....just RELAX..
try adjusting that lever on the side of your seat. It kinda helped me out. For some reason i have a bad lower back too and im at a fairly young age.
Two things ...... remember to breathe (no ****, a lot of people forget to do this in extreme situations), and do situps to strengthen you back.
Having a 4/5 pt harness will help a lot as well as you won't be fighting your bodies' movement to stay in the saddle.

YOu know i had the same problem!!
One day on the way home from the track I mubled "shiet my back hurts!".
Trying to comfort me , my G-friend decides to go down on me. WHile on the highway my stiff suspension and my dick, was bouncing which helped stroking. Few minuites lata the annoying pain has been relieved.
SO w/ anyone w/ hard suspension and back paid i suggest getting road head.

It probably has something to do with you being tense. You know when it is cold outside and you are all tense? I had Lasik surgury back in Feb. and during the procedure I got so tense that when the doctor was done with one eye I told him to wait cause I was so tense that my back was killing me. That cold be you guys problems too. Just mu .02.
Kinda related: When I raced Go Karts I went through a faze where my ribs where killing me. It turned out that they were poping out of where they join in with the spine, it was because I was still growing and I hadn't developed enough strength in that area yet. After a while it stopped I guess due to exercising and growing.
Anyways, my 2 cents is that you could be putting you back out which leads to muscle pain which is made worse by a bit of tension.
