Default Breaking-in the clutch/flywheel?

My fiance has just purchased an 03 eb3. She has driven my gsr once before, but is still gonna need some practice with the manual tranny.

My question is, which car do you think she should practice on? My gsr clutch has 92K miles on it. It shows no signs of excessive wear, except for a little bit of noise from the throwout bearing, but I don't know how long it will last. I wouldn't say I've been easy on my clutch, but I do rev-match every shift and I don't race or peform launches. I would let her practice on mine, but I'm worried some excessive slipping while she's learning may use all of what's left of my clutch.

If she learns on hers, should I make sure I put some miles on the new clutch? Is there a break-in for the clutch/flywheel? So far, that was my plan, and I'm up to about 150 miles on the new car.

Thanks for the help

Holy ****, 6800 miles?? What did you do to it?? I learned to drive stick on my 1987 Alfa Romeo... No harm done to the clutch..

I taught my sister how to drive manual on my RSX. After she drove it around for 30 min., my car had that burnt clutch smell and the clutch engagement felt different. The next day, the car was fine and the clutch was back to normal (self-adjusting clutch i presume) but it's definitely not something I'd want to put my car through again.

I'd say let her learn on her own car. Since that's the car she'll be driving around, it's best that she learn the engagement point and feel of that car's clutch. Besides, the k20a3 has more low-end torque than the b18c1 so it'll probably be easier for her to drive and learn stick on.

Lastly, the dealer will most likely not cover a worn clutch. That's a basic wear and tear item that is definitely not covered under the warranty.

I agree with 360. The dealer isn't gonna give you a "good faith" freebie for a clutch replacement. It's a wear item, and when it goes, it ain't cheap.. Have her learn on her new car..

Woah... I learned on mine... my lil godsister learned on mine... my best friend (another female) I gave lessons to on mine but she stalled more than even pressing on the gas pedal.

It took me 30 minutes to get used to it but wow. 6800 miles.
