To make it short, a few weeks ago when I would start my car it would make a knocking sound for a few seconds, then goes away. Sometimes under heavy acceleration, or at high rpms it would make a faint sound.

Well yesterday it starting getting louder and sounding worse. The engine would just die at idle, and all the oil appears to be in the pan. I was wondering if it is possible that my oil pump went out, and the sound is coming from lack of oil being circulated. The engine seems to smell and feel a bit warmer then before.

The oil light did come on at one point, but it wasn't on steady.

I'm not exactly sure as to what it could be, so if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
