JR Supercharger Check
I can vouch for this. I bought a GSR with a JR blower in November? and Im on my second rebuild. It was messed up when I bought it. The JR warranty is non-transferable, so buying a used one is sketchy. Listen for any odd noises, specifically a grinding type of noise, almost like a diesel engine noise, thats chattering, IE- death for a blower. Find a local specialist, and take it to him, he should be able to do a basic check, make sure its allright. Ask if he has the original pulley in, and if not who put it in. If he says he did, I wouldnt touch it. Thats what messed mine up. Also check to see if he had it profesionally installed. More questions are welcome.

Look for any leaks and also check the blades inside the supercharger. Make sure the blades are still in good original condition with no gouges or marks on them.
Good luck and check out http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-b...f=110 for great JRSC info.

Check bearing smoothness and rotor surfaces, look for cracks in the holes where the manifold bolts to the blower, check drive pulley nose for leaks,
I bought mine used, installed it myself, and have run it over 55,000 miles already without any problems, two-thirds of that at 10psi. There were a few very fine scratches on the rotors and edges, and there was a slight clunk when I was turning it over by hand, happening at the same point in the rotor's position. This clunk went away after spinning it for a couple of minutes. I would attribute this to getting the oil spread after shipping. After installing it, there was a definite chatter when it was idling, almost like a very noisy gearbox, but it went away at anything over 1200rpm. The oil level was okay and the seals on the nose were good, although there's a very faint trace right now, but nothing I am too alarmed about. The engine has gone to 8500 rpm on many occassions, and it dyno'd at 251Hp about two months ago. The engine itself just hit 150,000 yesterday...
Good luck with your hunt...
