Piston orientation

I'll take a picture tomorrow and I'll post it. (Should have done that first but I'm anxious.) Does it also matter which piston goes in which cylinder? I would assume so since you have yours marked 1-4.

when you re-build a motor you must match the pistons to the bore, meaning forget the # and measure each piston so that it match each individual bore.also the entire assembly should be balanced.

They are marked because I sent them to the balancing shop that way. Order doesn't really matter unless the pistons are not all the same size. Ie, if one is a touch bigger than the rest and the #1 cylinder was bored to match that piston, that piston needs to stay in the #1 cylinder.

I had the machine shop bore my block using the pistons and adding .0035" of piston-wall clearance. They never marked which pistons went into which cylinder though ...
Hey, Sonny I got a balancing question for you. I balanced my bottom end but I don't know if I did it properly. Instead of balancing each rod & piston to be exactly 880g I made 2 set's. each set resulting in an equal net weight.
Set A-
R&P #1 =890g
R&P #3 =880g
1770 total G
Set B-
R&P #2 =890g
R&p #4 =880g
1770 total G
Gram weights are approximations.
I couldn't get them to be perfectly weighted so my logic was that I would have equal total wieghts since our cranks put two up & two down. It was easier than having to remove like 15 grams out of one. 15 grams is alot to grind out of something like a piston & a rod BTW.
What do you think of my solution, Ive already put over 300 miles on the motor & it seems to be working out nicely. this is just a mental excercise so to speak.
