When to shift when racing??
Try to shift right before fuel cut-off. That seems to net the fastest acceleration because it will keep you in VTEC when you shift to the next gear.

I assume you're talking about drag racing.

it's nice if you can install like an LED light where you can see while watching the road that turns on to let you know when to switch, say, at 8000rpm. isn't that like a common thing in a real race car? but usually you can tell from the sound of the engine.

You're not going to make any friends with that attitude.
Anyways, when to shift is dependent on what type of driving you are doing (track, autocross, drag, etc).

when you start to hear valves bend.

why is it in neutral fuel cut off seems to be exactly at the begining of redline but when in gear u can go beyond redline.. I have actually never hit cut off while in gear.
right b4 fuel cutoff cuzz it'll keep u in vtec and in higher rpm's - when drag racing of course

For Drag...duh! just right b4 your fuel cut-off
For Autox...for me, the instant moment that I can find a straight line. (situation varies, hard to tell)
For Road Racing...I tend to shift at or near redline, but as long as the condition allows, I find the most feasible region of straight line and in function to the highest RPM rpm range availiable. Redline shifting is not necessarily the best way depend on course lay-out.

Not to mention you dont *always* downshift to keep it in the peak powerband, because shifting wastes time.

Any way to minimize shifts is good on a road course. Be smooth, carry momentum, short shift in 2nd gear turns.

Always Shift before you hit the rev limiter... I Shift a 9000 And I have my limiter set a 9300- The load on the engine internals is much greater by the effect of the Fuel or Electronic limiter cutting in, than using the extra 2or 300 RPM.

i've never heard of this before, can someone confirm this?
during my autoXes i've always bounced off the redline.

Short shift? What exactly is short shifting, not redlining when upshifting to third?

That is shifting before the turn even if you haven't reach redline yet, in the case that you'll reach redline in the middle of the corner.....
