Flywheel questions
I'm gettin ready to put a new ACT clutch in my teg. I can't afford a new lightweight flywheel, so I was thinking about getting my stock one lightened. Is this a good idea? what's the stock weight for a '91 LS teg flywheel and how much should I have taken off? What will this do for me in terms of performance? I need some suggestions. Thanx!

A friend of mine did this...you can send it to ACT to shave it off..I think the lowest you can go is 12 lbs...anything less will compromise the structural integrity of the piece...wih 12 lbs, I hardly feel the difference though. Get the 8 lbs Fidanza...it rocks
Or you can buy it from our special

I did the whole self install for a new clutch and I am kinda bummed I didnt spend the loot (and scrimp and save for it too) on a new lightened flywheel.
even a new ITR wheel has its weight in better spots.
just find a reputable place because it has to be lightened AND balanced otherwise you'll get chattering shifts.
a lot of people lighten their oem flywheel, so do that if you really cannot in any way afford $280 for a new one...
