for smog i live in MD we have that test were they just plug in that computer to ur cars data link i was wondering can i use a jdm obd2 ecu for this or will i have to go usdm so they can read it

 

your going to need your actual ecu for obd2 because when they plug up your car to the computer your ECU has your VIN encoded into it and they need to read it also the usdm ecu is made for passing emmissions here in the us in japan the jdm ecus are not.

 

well im probably wrong on my reasons above but to make a story short. you can not use a jdm ecu to pass emmissins. u need the usdm

 

bring your stock ecu ?
