Here's the link with info on nonresident vehicles. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/bro...t.htm Looks like you're going to have to upgrade your emmissions to California standards unless you can be one of those exempt vehicles.
Here's info on exempt vehicles. They have to be at least 30 years old.
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2536
You can probably register it as an Off-Highway vehicle.

Good luck.

Duh....Well since you're only 18 and yo daddy really was of no
help...why not try your local DMV. Since Motrex inports the Skyline
I really don't see a problem with registering your RHD..but I'm no
expert so consult the DMV.

If you want to do it legally, its going to be expensive. A friend of mine is in the process of getting his done. He's already talked to the DMV and the CHP regarding this matter. He has a 95 RHD Integra. He also bought a wrecked 95 Integra RS. If the vin numbers clear, that will be the new vin for his RHD. Then he's going to have to get the chassis chopped up so no one else can use the vin or the chassis. Also, he needs to take the motor and all the emissions equipment from the wrecked integra and put it in his RHD so it will be California Emissions Legal. If he passes, the car is all good and he gets his license plates.
find a vin number off usdm crx put it on, call up dmv and tell them you did a japanese conversion on your us crx. front conv, eng, steering wheel, bla bla bla

Probley at least the cost of the car. You have to put US bumpers on, put US doors on, Put US glass in. US Tail lights, US headlights, US corners, US emision. pretty much convert the car back the USDM but RHD. then have the car crash tested and a bunch of other neat stuff.

First find somebody that lives in Utah. You will need.
#1. A copy of the bill of sale (usually in Japanesse)
#2. You need the bill of sale translated into english and notorized
#3. You then have the car inspected (saftey)
They will then issue you a Vin # and a title. You have to be a resident so you "sell " the car to a friend you trust then he "sells" the car back after it's all said and done. You have no b.s. with emissions or any other bullshit then. Then take it to cali and go from there. Since it's already titled in the US they can't turn you down. You might need to mess with emissions however but since it's an older car from out of state maybe there will be a break.
Not checking spelling so live with it!!!

Yup, Bryant is right. You have to change over basically everything he said.

The guy with the Volvo Saphron Metallic CRX from FF-Squad did this. Your going to need a proffesional welder for this job and lots of $$$. At this point, you might as well swap the VINS to every place on the car and smash up the one you took the numbers off of.

I was actually in So Cal last year and spoke to him about this topic. Basically he told the DMV and DOT that he would use it as parts and to sell the vehicle as one so they gave him a temporary registration and title...but then he just turned around and kept it.
In closing to my many replies, it is great to have a RHD car and set yourself apart from others. But, the hassle to do it the legal way will almost cost you more than triple the amount of the car. We should just be happy with what we have. You don't see Jpsec cars in Japan turning their cars into LHD do you? Be happy you live in a great country and are able to keep an EF longer than 30,000 miles without paying more for it!
PS-I heard from a local Canada guy who I speak to often, that cars over 15 years old may be RHD cars. Don't quote me on this one!

some guy said he can get my car registerd if i pay him $250 just for the registration paper, allow me to reg my car under kit title-and i can drive the car on the street...scam?
the vins are stamped into the firewall, and riveted to the door frame on the driver's side. i would suggest cutting the vin out of the jdm firewall and a us firewall, and welding a us vin into it.
when i talked to a dmv about converting my crx to rhd, they said that as long as the american vin was still in place, everything would be fine. there are no hassles about driving a rhd car legally.
