okay guys, i need your advise....oil cooler??
I am just about done with my install on my d16y8. I will be driving my car on the street for about a year, then after that it'll be used only for racing. I have the stuff in my sig, now here are my questions:
-should I get an oil cooler?
-if I need one, should I get an already put together kit? or make my own?
-if i should buy a kit, what should i look for? (not too knowledgeable on what to look for, size, etc etc)
-if i can put one together on my own, what parts do i need?
-also on my oil temp gauge what temps should i worry about WITHOUT an oil cooler?
I am on a pretty tight budget as Im sure most of us are, so ANY help would be so much appreciated, since I will be making the purchase if needed this week.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Ditto, I plan to road race every once in a while w/ the turbo and I wonder if I need to get an oil cooler since there will be a **** load more heat.
oil coolers really arnet needed on our hondas i have had a temp gauge on mine for about 2 years. oil loses it's viscosicity at about 230 degrees for normal cheap oil and around 300 for synthetic my car is turbo and i road race, no cooler and i have never seen it above 210 on a very hot day that is with a h22 at 18 psi.
if anything you will lose power and flow due to restriction

My friend got an oil cooler, and his oil temps are almost 50 degrees cooler. He used to see oil temps around 230 F in his H22 with a GReddy kit.
Does your h22 have a stock oil cooler though? I've heard of some ITR road racers seeing oil temps near the 300's
Guess I'll just use a temp gauge and see what it reads and judge from there if I need it. Good info on the temps that oil breaks down at

Well you will need to because of the oil cooler. But you can also use a slightly thicker oil to increase oil pressure.
fmaxturbochic: random note, i see in your sig you want to buy a profec B. Check KChybrid's sig - he's selling one.

Mine gets up to about 230-240 when it is like 100 degrees outside
around 210 on a normal day, but i do a lot of interstate driving, don't know if that matters tho. Check on the greddy oil cooler kit

And this is just on normal driving?? ****, then it'll be hotter on the track.
