Default Australian ITR has lower HP than US ITR ???

AUS ITR has a compression ratio of 11.1:1
US ITR ==> 10.6:1

Is that correct?

AUS Honda claims that our ITR = 141kw, which is about 189 horsepower ( I thought it was 195HP ) , while USDM ITR = 195 HP.

The question is, why is the AUS spec type r (which has a higher compression ratio) has a lower HP than the US ones? or.... Am I wrong?

Please explain and correct me if I'm wrong...

Thanks guys

Who cares what power it's rated at. If you think it is inferior, then mod it until you like it. Besides different type-r motors came out of the factory making more power than others. What the car is rated at doesn't make any difference. Some stock R's put down a better graph than my car, which sucks, but oh well.

I think the lower hp rating comes from the fact that you guys have a tighter emission standard than we do here....

if "we" have 11:1 , at least here in Portugal we have 98 octane gas and u guys have 93 tops and less compression do you really think you have more hp´s ?
Besides we dont dyno our car´s in 3rd gear.....we do it on 5th gear and i think we have a different "reading" system in the dyno machines.

we have 98 octane too here in aussie...

oooo well......... it doesn't matter... as long as it's a Real Type R.... and 0-100kph my car beats the new WRX and ITR (which is 1/2 RSX Type R and 1/2 Type S)

thanks guys for replying and the supporttttttt

No,No I dont beleive that Australian type Rs have 11.1 compression ratio and 141kw is about right
1 kilowatt KW= 1.341hp therefore 189hp as you said. But in reality Oz Rs are lucky to dyno 137kw at the flywheel.
Most Aussie Honda dealership workshops claim to get only between 96kw and 100kw at the wheels stock.
But I am Dynoing at 129 kw@8320rpm at the wheels all stock other than i\h\e
and the bonus was that the Australian 01 Type Rs had the longer duration intake cam profile.

Confusing with the inconsistancies in the readings. To add to that further - they put different weight for our cars too. They made it here to be officially 1087kgs, but i am sure it is not much different in weight to the american ones too - in fact ours should be heavier than theirs, considering we get the Recaros that are HEAVIER than stock ITR USDM seats.

Everything is just out of whack man

According to my mechanic, the service manual for the Aus ITR is 10.6, but I'm sure the brochure and motoring magazines say 11.1.

LOL. You're funny. WRX is faster than the DC2R in 1/4 if thats what you're referring to. The new Type R (DC5R) is a little slower though but has a better engine

0-100kph time for the ITR is faster than the new WRX, isn't it?

hey guys.... I saw this on honda tech yesterday night... (actually this morning around 3AM... )
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/a...2&P=1

This morning... out of curiousity, I went to an exhaust shop that I know, and asked them to cut the end of the header, the starting and end of the stock cat then join them together using a new straight 2 1/4 inch pipe. So basically now the diameter is 2 1/4 inch the whole way (from the 2->1 join in the header, to the end of the cat)
I can feel a difference now but not sure whether it was an increase or decrease... LOL but my g/f said that the car feels "lighter".
I notice that now when I press the throttle pedal lightly, the car accelerates faster than before, but under full throttle, I cant really feel the difference.....
however..... when taking off, throttle needs to be pressed harder otherwise the rpm will drop below 1000..... why is that? am I losing torque down low?
what do you think guys.... am I getting an increase or a decrease in power?

If you did as the article mentioned - the gains would be so minimal i really don't think you would be able to feel increase in power. But it would definately help, just depends how much i guess.

I'm no technical expert though - at least it sounds cheap!
