Final drive gear modification.......

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the final drive ratio for a stock GS-R is like 4.3 right ? Have any of you guys upgraded your final drive at all ? If so, have you noticed a big difference in acceleration ? Are there any drawbacks to doing this modification ?
FD for a GE GS-R is 4.400. A shorter (numerically larger, like 4.7 or even 4.9) will give you improved acceleration. The downsides are: lower gas mileage, more engine noise and wear, and a lower top speed (if your engine isn't built to rev higher than stock).
i actually got better gas mileage due to the fact i was going throw the gears faster. top speed wasnt really affected i took my car up to 143 mph on the speedo with it still pulling. Basically every gear feels like the lower gear. I have no regrets about getting the FD one of my best mods.
