Default Body Work

I am interested in doing some body work for my car. My neighbour is experianced with he welder and I asked him if he would weld some things in for me. With his help, I am going to try to fix my tailagte on my hatchback. Its too badly denting and I wasn't able to pull it out and I dont want to fill a 1 inch deep pocket full of bondo. So im gonna cut it out and remake a peice outta sheet metal to weld on. I am also planing on shaving the key hole on my tailgate 2 since im there already. Whut thinkness should the sheet metal be? And where can I buy a large sheet of this stuff (looking at about 3'x3')?

Dude, make your life easier and look for a fiberglass rear hatch. It's easier and lighter.
Just a thought

its 22 guage. very thin and hard to weld without warping it. i recomend to just hamer it out the best you can, or replace the panel.
