88 passive rear steering question
For lake of better words, is there a way to take this off? My friend really doesn't like the feel off it. He has changed the control arm to a 90 i believe crx to fit the suspention he was using. Thanks for the help.
Sorry, I can't answer your question but do you have pics of this? I've heard of this before when Oscar Jackson was talking about the 10 best used cars for racing...he was talking about crx's and mentioned that some of the 88's have this...do you have any pics of it under the car? Does it have any stickers on the back saying it has this? Your friend has a rare *** crx! I think it would be awesome to have it.
Well on the track it would be fun. He told me about it but really didn't think about it until i drove it. With this the rear wheels turn alittle in order to kinda snap back. We were testing out his new suspension on a turn and i wasn't ready and when i turned back the car whipped back real fast and i was turning right on a left turn. We were like F***. Luckly we didn't wreck but it was scary. The second time i was ready but still don't like it for street. It takes allot of getting used to have having allot of control. And to answer your question i don't even know where it is. We swapped out the control arms becuase he was getting a fork style suspension setup and it is still there. This is why i'm asking. Sorry for the long reply.

I belive just swaping the control arms will fix/make the passive sterring go away. However I am not 100% sure, if any one knows however please share as I was thinking about converting my car to this just to see what its like.
88 Rear LCAs (same exact part as ITRs have) caused the passive steering... if they are changed out to the solid bar style the passive rear steering will no longer be there, if there is something still going on back there you have other problems. Check bushings and parts for bends and damage.

word.
word.
oh hmmm we swapped out the LCAs becuase of the suspension that we put on there and the rear passive steering felt liek it was still there. I mean the rear passive steering part of it felt exactly the same. Hmmmm now that i think about it and now knowing what causes the rear pasive steering makes me wonder why his car is doing this.

not true. the difference in passive steer effect is not caused in the different style of lower control arm, but the front toe link anchor point to the chassis. the CHASSIS is what is different.
passive steering is present in all civics and integras with multi link rear suspension. the EFFECT was simply reduced in crx's after 88 as they found it was too much. but the change was made to the chassis, nothing else. so it makes sense that scooby's friend would not notice a difference, although im unsure of how sensitive the feel would be to know exactly how much the effect would have been reduced even if it was a change in parts.
