205 whp with Skunk2 Stage 2 cams and stock bottom end???
There was some guy on this board that said his friend with a ITR made 205 whp with Apexi VAFC, I/H/C/E, cam gears and stock bottom end. Is this possible??
The reason I am wondering about Stage 2s is because I am trying to decide between the Stage 1s and the Stage 2s. I have an 01' ITR with AEM CAI, DC JDM 4-1 Header, Carsound Cat, Apexi N1 exhaust, Chipped P28 ecu, Toda Cam Gears, and I plan on getting Hondata. I am going to keep my bottom end stock. But I need your guys' help in deciding on Stage 2 or Stage 1. Thanks.
cant you make 205 with stage 1 ? local shop here had 2000 R with mugen header 2.25 apexi N1 no cat, with skunk2 stage1 and cam gears and skunk2 ecu program. and it made 197 whp

jonny did it with a jdm itr bottom end
edit: you are going to need all the good stuff
-an excelent high flowing header & exhaust setup
-2 or so hours on the dyno
-hondata and not vafc
-most likely some 310 or 440cc injectors (with 180~whp on R cams, im 80% duty cycle with 310's)
it would be nice if us cali people had better than 91 octane. but we just need to make due with what we have :shurg:

A good number of people are making over 200 with stock cams. Have you seen George's dyno??? He isn't above 200, but he is making amazing power with the stock cams.

I would get mild headwork and possible head milled for a bump in cr ratio
I would also put your money into a nice header (smsp, header tech, an-r, hytech) before you drop money on cams.
but its a personal preference. I prefer to have a better flowing intake/exhaust setup before I would put lumpier cams in

Very possible. MPH made 198whp with Skunk Stage ones on stock compression with a Toda header and 193whp with the JDM DC if I'm not mistaken. If all you want is close to 200whp I say just stick with stage ones.
are bigger injectors really a necessary mod to achieve 200whp? i didnt think they were, but im not really that sure.
Bigger injectors don't hurt, and can make a big difference, as long as you have tunable fuel management.

Go with the stage ones. I have a set for sale too. Brand new in the box. 2nd gens.

by tunable im guessing you mean something other than a VAFC and FPR, right?

get stage 2's or stick with stock cams becuase if you get some headwork done you can make as much power with stock cams as you can stage 1's

I am not going to get any headwork done....I am just interested in which cam will give me the most hp with what I have.

I read somewhere that with the stage 2's its a good idea to build the head a little stronger

Actually it made 205.9whp

I hope you guys really don't get the impression that you can break into the 200s easily with a stock bottom end. I'm not sure if Johnny Bravo is using a jdm or usdm block, but if you look at his mods, he is making around 11.5:01 compression. How many stock usdm ITR blocks do you know make that kind of compression? Not to mention his expensive bolt ons. I am not ragging on his set up at all, it is very good. I just think some of you will be disappointed if you are expecting to break into 200s with just i/h/e and cams on 10.6:01 compression. Breaking into 200s n/a is not easy and will most definitely not be cheap.
I want to buy the stage 2's since my valvetrain is upgraded and i have P&P done aswell, but im still at stock comp. Would it be beneficial for me to get them now, since i will be upgrading my bottomend to a higher comp????
would i still make decent power with hondata???
