im pullin the wussie *** d15 from my civic and im stuck on the axles. The 32mm bolt in the center of the hub won't break. i straightened the tab and soaked it with WD-40 an hour ago and the SOB still won't break with a 1/2 in breaker bar. any suggestions??? anybody?? thanks in advance.

 

Find a pole or something on the breaker bar for leverage, that's what's going to break it loose.

 

I once used one of the legs for the cherry picker! It worked like a charm!

PVC is not strong enough.

You need something METAL. Try the handle from your jack.

Or stand and BOUNCE real hard on your breaker bar, just make sure to wrap a rag around the bar where it passes by the face of your wheel.

You do have the wheels on and the car on the ground right?

haha its cake with an impact gun. i wouldnt even pull an engine with out it.. tooooo much work. id suggest going to like homedepot if you dont have access to one and rent an electric one. or rent/borrow an air compressor and get a good 1

 

Go to autozone and rent the axle nut socket then head down to you local tire shop/garage and ask them to break it loose.

 

blah, just stand on it and bounce, it will come off.

 

I already have everything disconnected except the shift linkage, mounts, and axles. How much is a rental,and why the hell would i have the wheels on or the car on the ground?

How are you keeping the wheel from turning when you try to loosen the nut?

 

put a long screwdriver between the vent of the brake rotor, it catches on the caliper and keeps it from turning.

 

Like I said, since you really dont have any other choice at this point.

Put the wheel back on. Put the car on the ground.

Stand on the breaker bar and BOUNCE. It will come off. Me and my buddies have been doing this for YEARS and it hasn't failed us once.

 

hmmmmmm, i'll see if that works. i dunno if the socket will fit through the center cap on the wheels. thanks

 

It should fit, unless it was an impact socket. Try not to use a long extension either, and dont forget the rag if you care about your wheels.

 

thanks, it worked like a charm but now the ball joint under the passenger side hub won't pop off. i even smashed my finger REALLY bad trying to pry em apart. The drivers side popped right off with the joint splitter but this un wont budge. i just hit it with WD 40 just in case it was seized and no go!!! any ideas? thanks

 

Told ya so!

As far as the ball joint goes, I spend just a few minutes on them, if they dont come out, I just undo the upper a-arm from the car.

I know there are a lot of tricks to pop the ball joints, but I will let someone else chime in on that.
