could clacking valves cause a knock sensor CEL????
I have recently swapped a B16 into my hatch, It is in desperate need of a valve adjustment and after a couple of days with the swap in the car, it began to throw the knock sensor code. I haven't checked the wiring yet, but I was just wondering if this was a possibillity.
In my experienc vavles sound completly differernt from a engine knocking. Engine knock reminds me of a woodpecker in the oilpan. So unless you hear a woodpecker you should be fine, check the wiring.
always remember, CEL only comes on if theresa problem with the sensors. anything else like knocking noises, orblown pistons or whatever will not throw a CEL. but, smoke out of the tail pipe can help you to know there is a problem in the internals.
No smoke or anything, aside from the valves needng to be adjusted the car runs fine, so I supposed it must be in the wiring or the timing.
