Default Turbo D15 sohc vtec?

Is this a good set-up? Has anyone done this? I would figure a D16 would be safer but I am having no luck finding one.

No luck finding a d16? Hmm...well, I can think of one guy on here who had something like 200 to the wheels. I'm not sure his name but maybe he'll post on here. Oh yeah, search! (sorry, everyone always says that)

D15 = weak rods + boost = Duuud.

They can't handle a 50 shot, so factor that # in.

there was an article in the April issue of Honda Tuning about a budget boost on a d15 made of "mitsubishi leftovers". Pretty good article, see if you cant find it, it has good info

i wonder what d15 that is??? if you look in my sig you will see that they can handle more than a 50 shot. its only a 60 for now.

but any way wheather he builds a d16 or d15 he will eventualy have to build the bottom on both.

the JDM d15b rods are just as strong as the d16...the USDM d15 rods are weak..but ive seen some people who boost 6-8psi with stock internals

You only have luck on your side for now running a DX w/ 60 shot.

1.5 SOHC VTEC motors have stronger rods than a 1.5 SOHC non-VTEC. Meaning they can handle the boost.

Try looking at these places for D16 longblocks or full swaps:

http://www.sohfast.com

im sorry but that is crap. i have run my nitrous on this engine countless times, and it is still running great, there is alot to be said for proper maintenance. i understand that it is close to its limit but it is not there yet. i have seen stock bottom end d15b7's running a higher shot then that. it is all in the tuning also. i am not trying to say that it is the best motor out there. but any way even if the rods are weak, just change them out, it is something that will inevitably have to be done to almost any motor trying to put down some serious power.

Thats perfect. I asked a friend about the vtec 1.5 and he tried to tell me it was good for nothing. I guess I will have to teach him a lesson.
