Code 23, does it kill Vtec??
ok, i have a p72 ecu,(gsr) on my 92 civic, with a d15b, so i have no knock sensor. im just using this ecu for now, until my bullfrog comes in. the problem is that its looking for a knock sensor, which i dont have, so its throwing code 23. will this make vtec not work?? or do i have another problem to deal with??
first of all thats not the right ecu for that motor, secind if u had a gsr motor in your car with that ecu and u were throwing code 23 your CEL would be on and it would run liek crap but you would still have vtec this happend in my car with my type r motor it ran slow but reved all the way and i still had vtec. u need to get the correct ecu for that motor in that car.
i know, but my ecu hasnt come in the mail yet, so im just using this so my car will actually run. it runs fine, just that i have no vtec, and when i hit likr 5500 rpm i get the cel, and its code 23.
i knock sensor code will cause a "limp" mode with no v tec. it needs the knock sensor to pull the timming back if there ever is a problem.
thansk a lot thats all i needed to hear, now im not worried about my soleniod being messed up. i didnt think so, cause it didnt give any vtec related cel codes, just the knock sensor.
i actually coded for vtec (21) and knock (23) on a jdm p30 ecu. my car ran great, just flashed a lot of cel's. it turned out to be in the wiring harness, BUT if everything was working, meaning running ok, then everything had to be hooked up correctly. doesn't it seem weird that the ecu threw those codes even though vtec wasn't really disabled. oh well.
