Default my DIY airbag block off tray

i was swapping airbags at work yesterday, and i pulled the cover off of the blown bag. i figured i could rig some kind of tray up and it looks perdy good i guess. went to ACE hardware and picked up a big slab of sheetmetal (thin, i could bend it by hand) and i started cutting away. my uncle helped me and it didnt take long.

the airbag cover already has holes in it so that made it easy for the small bolts. i had to slice into random parts of the cover.

cool. but also...fyi...the air bag cover comes off in one piece and still snaps in place into the dash. just remove those multiple nuts on the side and pull the metal plates off. shoves right into the stock hole tight. so...if you tape the stock airbag from underneigth where it broke through...it'll look total stock.

i was actually thinking about using them as duds.. i got a drivers side bag, took all the airbag crap out. and my boss' brother at work is going to try to put it back together to look like a stock bag. that is for now tho until i get a bag for the "race" car. or perhaps just run without bags so i dont get screwed if i bump somone.

edit..one more pic:

That'd make an excellent secret storage area.
