Possible to fix a slightly bent SW388 wheel?
Due to my accident, one of my sw388 rim is bent a bit with minor scratches. The lip of the rim is pinching the tire a bit. I still haven't taken a close look at the tire yet but this is what I've been told as to the condition of my wheel.
Hope you guys can help, thanks!

That stinks, buy a Rota and sand it down.
I guess the only real solution is to buy a new one simply because you can't replicate the same force of impact to make it "safe" to roll on. Plus, there is no way to know if you fixed it appropriately unless air is leaking less..

YOU don't know why I haven't taken a better look is because I haven't told you my car is still with the insurance claim center. Is the thumbsdown really necessary? i really hate it when ppl give the thumbsdown when they were no help at all. To me it's almost as bad as giving the middle finger cause it's so degrading to a post. Oh oops, looks like you've been banned, cya

Thanks for ur feedback Keyed ITR, well i just wanna double to check to make sure that the wheel is not fixable cause I gotta tell my insurance company otherwise and they'll have to reimburse me with a brand new wheel or have them pay for the repairs if it's fixable.

My roommate really messed up his 18 inch momo's(on his benz).......he took them to the rim doctor and they put his rims in the original mold and then mounted them on this machine that heated them up and spun them at an insane speed and gradually fixed them......I think in the end they were 95% perfect
almsost makes me wanna cry.
I'm pretty sure you can fix it. However the original weight prolly will not be retained since they do not use a forging process.

There are plenty of wheel doctors and such out there. Just do a search on google or something and see if you can find one localy.
Just to clarify, the damage on N1-R's wheel was caused when another car t-boned his. Generally, horizontal impact damage to a wheel is worse than vertical impact damage (ie. a bend from a pothole). Even though the bend in the picture doesn't look too big, that's the result of a 3000lbs. + car hitting it at over 70kph. I wouldn't try to pull it back into shape.

forged metals are amazingly strong compared to cast counterparts, but this also makes them very brittle in comparison.
judging from the pictures i do not know whether or not its repairable...it not only looks bent, but also smashed inward, with some cracks in the wheel itself.

Check these guys out, http://www.wheelwizard.com. They worked wonders on a TE-37 that I bent in an accident. Looks and works perfectly.
A spoon wheel will cost the insurance company roughly what a stock ITR wheel would cost them from Acura. If need be, sell them on this point and they will most likely fix the wheel. It IS obvious damage from the accident, I can't see how they can't fix it, especially considering there is no increased cost on their end over the stock wheel.

There is a place in Richmond that fixes all types of rims called Green's Automotive. They have a pretty cool shop with a CNC lathe. I think they are the only wheel repair facility in BC with such a machine.
Ask for Bob (Green)

If they can do this:

I'm sure they can fix your rim.
Good luck Edmond.
