Stock or after-market. My cone filter looks pretty dirty, cleaned it often but it's been...over two years maybe? I need to buy a new filter....how often do you change yours?

 

get a K&N replacement and you just have to wash it twice a year. save you a lot of money

I clean the filter on my AEM CAI every spring, once a year. K&N say you can go longer and that its actually good to have your filter slightly dirty to help trap more dirt, but don't believe it. Keep that bitch clean and well oiled.

i don't.... i just wash it...

 

you're supposed to change it?...lol i usually change it when it gets dirty, but i atleast check it evey time i change my oil

 

recharge it every few months. more often when i had the bottom exposed, but now i have a filter screen so it should stay clean a lot longer.

I believe helms says every 15k miles. Not 100% sure on that number, will double check tomorrow.

 

can you get a K&N filter for an aftermarket intake?

 

clean and re oil my filter every 15k

havent had a paper filter in my car for awhile

I certainly don't agree that dirt will help trap dirt. Afterall, it isn't sticky and if it coats all the oil you have nothing to collect the dirt. K&N be liars. I just got a new intake so my filter is brand new as well. I heard every other oil change so that is my best bet. About 15k miles sounds about right, maybe a little high for that second oil change, I believe that is supposed to be every 4k or 5k miles.

 

Why would K&N lie about how often you have to clean the filter? I also do mine about once a year, which ends up being about 25K miles for me. I'll never have to change mine again.

 

You might want to clean it more often if you have a CAI. It runs closer to the ground and picks up more dirt and grime.

Im happy with my Pilot motorsports air filter, I change it once a year. I spend $30 on it.

 

I haven't yet. I need to soon though.

 

15k applies to the enclosed stock paper filter. intakes are exposed and accumulate fumes and dust much sooner

Very true. I guess I never thought about it like that, b/c I have an Icebox.

Just use the K&N filtercharger kit. Autozone carries it.

 

ya and for 12bucks it lasts a long time. at least 4 recharges id say. still have like half of both bottles left plus 2 more kits..
