i have a question guys.
im picking up a Y8 motor and i wanna convert to OBDI. im not too good at wiring and i had a question. to convert an OBD0 car to an OBDI using an OBDII motor do i have to:
-get the plugs for the block off an OBDII wiring harness
-splice them into my OBD0 harness
-then run a OBD0 to OBDI ECU jumper harness?
if not can someone please tell me the correct way. and yes i did search. also its a DX but im assuming i dont have to do any MPFI wiring seeing as how its going to be a completely different motor and ECU controlling everthing.
oh yeah and a really gay question. anyone whos done this swap just post here and let me know so i can IM you with questions.
that is if anyones willing to help. thanks guys

Well, I ran a D16Y8 on an OBD-I ECU last year. Great swap. Anyways, just use all the Y8 OBD-II plugs, like the distributor, etc, and use the injectors and distributor. It'll all run off of a P28 no problem. First convert to MPFI so you have something to work from. Then convert to OBD-I.
Hey whats up man I just did the same swap I love it. the engine i got did not come with the harness for the engine. everything plugged right in, except for the injectors I had to shave the notch on the top down so they will fit into my stock 89 si injector harness. the only problem I am having is that i am throwing codes 4 and 9. But it still runs great.

awesome. so the distributor and injectors wont be a problem? i got the motor already and ironically enough it didnt come with injectors or dizzy. if i get those 2 youre saying i could use my OBD0 harness and just plug it up to the p28 and itll run?
im assuming to run the p28 im gonna need the jumper harness and would that be all?

can i use the HF/SI harness since my car is a shell right now and then plug it up?? seems it would be easier this way
Yes you do need a jumper harness for the ecu. As for the injectors you can use the obd0 harness w/ some modification to the injectors. The distributor should wire up color for color, the one thing i noticed is that the obd0 harness has two white wires and the obd2 dizzy has only one white wire. I matched it up color for color runs great except for the two codes I am throwing. which are 4 and 9.

it sucks you dont have the IM function available (trial user)
are you using the y8 injectors or the OBD0 injectors?
are you using the y8 distributor or OBD0 one?
and when i get the jumper harness its going to be from an OBD2 to OBD1 correct? thanks

Ok, you still seem a little confused about all this. I'll try and clear it all up for you.
You want to run the D16Y8 off of an OBD-I P28 ECU, right? Well this is what you're gonna have to do:
-Find a P28, WITH the P28 ECU plugs, unless you buy a converter harness (I built my own).
-Convert your DPFI car to MPFI. This will be the base for your later wiring. This is absolutely critical.
-Use the OBD-0-OBD-I conversion harness, buy one off of Blown90Hatch.
-Use the D16Y8 OBD-II Distributor, Injectors, throttle body, 02, etc etc.
-Convert your engine bay to OBD-I spec (The OBD-II parts will work with this).
Badda bing, badda boom. Here's a site for the OBD-I conversion: http://www.geocities.com/kurtsi_on/page9.html
