B18c in 90 hatch , wiring converison question......need advice!!
My friend has me helping him on this swap and we were just wondering what would be easier.
1. DOing this obd conversion thing with a harness??
or
2. He bought the entire front clip , wouldnt it be easier to swap all the wiring form the clip and everything and run the B18c ECU??
I know number 2 is a lot of work running wire but isnt it easier in the long run??

Id say you have 2 easier options, not necessarily cheaper though. You can get an obd0 to obd1 conversion harness or you can use the obd0 dist, inj., etc and get a skunk2 manifold(no secondary butterfly hookup). Im sure that the PR3 or PWO ecus would run the gsr perfectly but fuel and timing may not be optimum for the gsr. If I were you Id go with the conversion harness, but thats just me.
YAh but the main problem with using a conversion harness is that his chassis harness in the car, has a problem, near his injector resistor he has some cut wires that we cant figure out where they go. SO we just figured converting the entire harness, both engine and chassis woud work ...And i cant imagine it being that hard........HE said he will eventually go with a skunk2 manifold but for now he just wants to concentrate on getting the motor swap done
you should just throw the "using the harness out of the clip we got" out the window, because it is not compatible with the EF platform.
1. use obd0 distributor, ecu, 02 sensors. easiest
2. get a 0bd0-obd1 jumper harness. and use all the gsr dizzy, ecu, 02's.

HOw can it not be compatibel with the ef platform??
IF you take every single wire out of an integra GSR and put it into a EF , it will work.
FOr all it matters you could take the GSR wiring and put it into a geo metro and it will work.

using the "clip" harness you would have to solder on all new plugs etc etc etc etc none of the wire colors will probably even match up anyway so find out what every single color wire exactly does.....besides there is not point in even switching out your interior harness although you could take out the b18 gauge cluster and plug wires and hook that up while you are at it...
When I did my OBD0 -- OBD1 conversion I modified my OBD0 engine harness with the OBD1 distributer plugs and the plug with all the yellow/black wires that takes place of the injector resistor and the 4 wire O2. I had OBD1 ECU plugs. I extended these to the proper OBD0 ECU wires. Never had a problem and no CEL codes.
why would i have to solder on new plugs, that dont make any sense??
AND what does wire color have to match have anythign to do with it?
THe swappign the cluster was one of the reasons i was gonna swap the harness.

On the engine harness the colors will match up. On the ECU side, the majority of the wire colors will be different. All you connections need to be soldered to prevent them from tearing apart and loose connections. It will save you a lot of trouble if you do it righ the 1st time.
What wire colors will be different if im usigg the orignal GSR harness??? WHy would they need to be soldreed?, im nto ripping nay plugs off?
if you want to use the gauge cluster, it is waaaay easier to just mod your existing ef harness. and about using the harness on any car even a metro, this is true. go ahead and hack it and see if you ever get it to work 100 %. its your decision if you want it to be a 5 hour job at most or a 20-99999 hour job.
YA i imagine using my harness would be easier, but as i mentioned earlier , the guy that had the car last liek cutting pliers.......There isnt much of the original harness left, its all hacked up to ****!!!, so rahter than screwing with this hacked harness for many years, i just thought swapping the entire GSR harness would be easier. ANd what do you mean get it to work 100 % , why woudlnt it?
how about you video tape the whole swap and you can shoot for the world's longest movie. i'll call guiness right now.
well to be honest the most easiest thing to do is to get another 88-91 Si engine harness. I work with honda wiring everyday. Replacing the whole engine harness just because of some injector wires being cut is not a good reason to start hacking up the interior harness and opening up a whole new can of worms. Can you get any pics of what is messed up. Is the GSR clip a JDM or USDM clip??
NO NO NO , no one is listening, the engine harness is fine, nuthing wrong there, its the part of the harness by the shock tower that runs through the firewall1!!!!
ITs cut and spliced ,a nd soem cuts arent even hooked back up.
ITs a USDM clip.
