B16 in my CRX...
I'm running into a few complication in trying to source everything I need to make my car B16 powered, I've looked on numerous website and haven't found some of my answers, sorry if this is a repost I did a search and came up w/ very little. Ok I'm getting a B16 out of a '99 or '00 Si that has Eagle rods, 9.1 JE pistons, & GSR cams for $1000. For another $200 I can get the tranny w/ it to , and it has an ACT Stage 3 clutch. Is the tranny compatible or should I look for another one? Sorry if these are noobish questions, but I'm really anxious to get this car up and running good, just got done w/ a D16Z6 swap, now I'm graduating to B. So can I get a link or just a little shopping list of stuff to start looking for? I'll prolly get flamed, but I seriously need help. Thx.
It will be a hydraulic transmission. You can change your car over to hydraulic transmission actuation - right now you're using cable - but it will be a BIG PITA. Your other option is to use a cable transmission - any B-series cable transmission will work - or get a converter block that will bolt onto the hydraulic transmission actuation arm and allow you to use your cable setup. Do a search for things like 'hydraulic conversion' and the like; it's been done and I've seen recent threads on it.
I don't suppose you've considered the amount of wiring you're going to be doing in order to run an OBDII engine in an OBD0 car yet, have you?

So just like an Integra LS tranny would work right? Is there a lot involved in non-OBD to OBD-2 conversions? This is looking to be more and more unlike I had imagined...an easy slip in procedure. I guess maybe I'll have to pass on this one then. Maybe I'll just sell my CRX and get a crotch rocket.
How much will it probably cost me to get the rest of the parts I'll need for the swap on average. I really just need to know if I can come up w/ enough money before I move to Houston on whether to go for it or not. Thank you.
There IS a lot of work involved in non-OBD to OBDII conversions, yes, but you can bypass all that if you buy a converter harness. Several members on this board make them and they're plug and play on the ECU end of things. I'm not sure what would be involved in connecting the engine itself to the wiring harness; I'd assume that's where the majority of the work would need to be done. For instance, you'd have to change the fuel injector plugs to OBDII style, add three wires for the O2 sensor and locate an O2 sensor plug, rewire the distributor plug, etc. It's not too bad - just systematic work - but it's not exactly plug and play
The Integra LS transmission will work fine on that engine. It's not an optimal solution as the gearing is too tall for the high-revving low-torque B16 but it'll work!
Even if you don't want to put the engine in your car - personally I'd do it, jump right in with both feet and do it - that's still a dang good deal for what you're getting as long as it's in primo condition!
