I was quoted 850$ for a swap of a JDM H22a into my 92 lude. This seem high or about average?

that for the labor or for the complete swap? if its for the labor thats a decent charge.... if its for the complete swap, jump on it. if you dont... i will.

It's just for the installation...if it was complete I wouldn't be asking

The shop is local called TrickEngineering. I have had a few friends use them for swaps and said they do a good job. But 850 is still pretty high so I might just get some mechanic friend to help me out...unless anyone knows a local shop in NH/MA that does this cheaper

 

yeah. assume it take 8 hours to do a swap. if you figure that out... they arnt charging too much per hour. here in SOCAL labor only runs about 500.

 

Damn, I've got a friend down here who's got a shop and just swaped out H23 for a JDM H22 in a 95 Prelude for about $500 (maybe a little less) and it took him no more than about 5 hrs.
