Default N2O question

Well the story goes, I was at a red light with a fellow 4 gen luder. Same color and everything. Light turns green we both get on it. I had him off the launch, but when we shifted into 2nd gear his exhaust goes "POP!!!". All through the gears it goes POP POP!!!!. I asked him after our little run if he was running nitrous and he said no, he was just running rich in gas.
The question is....Is he really running rich in gas or spraying???
TIA

My 5th gen pops depending on how hard I shift. If I shift really quick and hard it backfires (a nice backfire btw too... my friend said he actually saw a flame in my exhaust! sweet!). Anyhow at this point the 5th gen "popping" has I/E/"test pipe"/cluth and flywheel not that the last 2 help too much... so ya, there's a good chance he's not running nitrous

He was running rich, which could be caused by several factors. Most people run nitrous pretty rich, so he could have been spraying. However, there is no way to know for sure from the info that you've stated.

The popping was extremely loud.
When I was beside him all I could here was that pop and saw flames coming out.

Why are you pissed? He's the one with the shitty A/F ratio and the one who fouls his plugs out every week.

VTEC's do this when they have very little backpressure.

They tend to pop and spit flames when they shift hard at high RPMs.

I used to spit SERIOUS flames and pop like nobodies business when I had my car running N/A. Then again, 116 octane does wierd things in N/A hondas.

maybe he has the setup you can put on the rx7s and what not. i was going to do that to my lude but decided against it...i rather leave it on my 7s....gawd i miss those cars....but he was running rich and had a set up to throw flames....aftermarket add on.

i squeeze and i pop when im in high rpms and shift hella hard....but i keep my car running rich...better rich than to lean out.
