Default Dealer wants $200+ for alignment!!??

So i make an appointment to get my car aligned, of course telling them the car is lowered. They say it will be $79 so I think that sounds reasonable right?
Well I get the car there early in the morning and the guy goes out and looks at the car and comes back in saying "since its lowered they have to charge me more because its hard to drive on the rack and they would have to reset the machine because it wasn't stock..." So im thinking like 20 bucks more but no...200!!!
Has this happened to anyone else, the person on the phone never mentioned an additional charge for lowered cars. I have H&r SPORTs so its not even extremely low. Is this normal dealer policy?

All I have to say is I hope you left after they told you it was going to be more because you car is lowered, thats BS right there. It doesnt matter if your car is dragging the ground they can still allign it, they are just being lazy bithes. Call around or ask your friends where they get their cars aligned.

That is ridiculous. The shop I work at charges $55, stock, lowered, custom settings, whatever. And we have a state of the art alignment machine. They are just trying to screw you.

Dealer always rips you off. I never go to the dealer unless I need OEM parts.

I got my alignment done at DTC for $120 for all 4 wheels, and the best part is that it's Lifetime Alignment! I can take my car as many times as I want forever...

I went up to Big O tires and they charge $60 and thought ahh thats not too bad.. then they said they charge and extra $40 for lowered cars so thats when i said **** it. I took it to a local owned shop and they did a really good job for $35.. the owner even let me watch and let me drive my car on and off the ramp myself. I'll always go back there.

I work at my local Acura dealership and we get in lowered and suspension altered cars all the time, and we may charge a little more but never anything like $200!

the dealer that i work at doesn't even want to bother with lowered vehicle alignments. the standard price quoted doesn't include a camber adjustment because most hondas don't have a provision for camber adjustment...another reason is because of a car that came in for alignment but was so low the fberglass front bumper scraped on the alignment rack and cracked the fiberglass...after that the shop foreman said no more...not going to be responsible for stuff like that. BTW my car is lowered and i do my own alignments. however $200 is way out of line though considering what they originally quoted you...they were probably trying to get out of doing it.

never ever EVER go to Big O ****** *** Tires to get an alignment, they screw everything up. My brother got his Isuzu Trooper aligned there, they screwed it up and his tires feathered like crazy. Then he took his wifes lowered GS300 to another Big O tires and they screwed that up too, they said they fixed the camber to factory specs, but then a month later one of the damn tires blew, turned out it was massive tire wear that caused it. I've had friends that got shitty damn service from them too... They try to lure you in with a life time warranty on their alignments, but they just **** it up so youll have to come back, and then theyll tell you "Oh, you need this and that and you gotta pay for it" Screw those stupid bastards, my brother's wife almost lost control when the tire blew.

Firestone does them for $60 and $120 for lifetime
I had a coupon for brake masters, alignment for $35 (but they seemed kinda clueless when it came to suspension components, probably more of a simple mechanical maintance)

I work for Firestone and yup $120 life time alignment! Find a coupon $109 and get your car checked every other week or so. All after all IT"s a great deal. You could get it checked nationwide!

$200 is a rip! All they have to do is get some boards to help make the trip up to the alignment machine a little more gradual, big deal!
