Axxis Ultimate question...vs R4S? Streetablility? Trackability?
I am trying to save my Endless CCX which only have less than 50% beef left.
So I am considering new pads and rotor and keep the CCX + current rotor for track use only.
I used Porterfield R4S before and was very very pleased with them. The initial bite is damn strong, but they gave up on me shortly after on the track.
These Axxis Ultimate will be strictly for Autox and street, the reason I asked about track is because they will be my backup once the CCX fails.
Any inputs on the performance/durability on the Axxis Ultimates are welcomed.
But my main concern is how well it bites and lasts compare to R4S on street and Autox.

Axxis Ultimates are a great pad for the street. I wouldn't dare run them at the track due to the fact i think i could melt em' in no time especially at Sebring (long straights with hard braking). If you are a novice on a track then yeah they will hold up fine i think if you aren't on the brakes that hard and are more of learning the braking and turn in points and the line at any course.
I run them on the street in my ITR and i like them a lot. They have lasted a while so far and i am surprised at that fact. I will be getting them again most likey after these wear out.

No kidding, I wish I knew that before I killed them with 1/3 of the pad life left.
I'd go with the Ultimates. They cost almost half as much as the R4S's do and don't fade as easily.

I have run my Axxis Ulimates @ CMP, The Jeff, VIr-Full,VIR-n and they seem to have held up well, in fact I have more than half of the life left on them, I am however considering getting some track pads, as I am sure there is more braking power out there than what they provide, I ran about 5 or six session @ CMP, VIR-n and full.

If this is your main concern get Cobalt GT Sports. I have not used porterfields but i have used Hawk HP+ which I suspect are similar and I woudl say that the Cobalts beat both of them. (I used Ultimates first and Cobalt beat them hands down).
Can't say enough good things about the GT Sports . . .

Is GT-Sports suitable for streets?

ultimates...
seem good enough for the streets...track...they are definately better than stock.
thanks to andy, I have a set of cobolt GT sports laying around.. havent tried them out, but i do remember andy mentioning they are good for the track, but for those who really want to stop dead in the tracks, that it was not the best pad to mash on hard that he was selling...

Ray...I have these pads on my car right now
running them daily
my plan is to drive to summit point, drive the track, drive home....without changing pads...hope the GT-Sports are good enough for the track, but they should be, I mean they are already locking up the Azenis without any effort.

Well, locking up the tires only shows good performance. But the problem with most street/autox pads on track is their ability to withstand the duration of extreme temperture after rounds of rounds of full braking. Once overheats, it neither fades out braking or simply crumbles likes my R4S and have heat stress like on Kyle's stock pads.
What's the operating tempertures of GT-Sports?

Ray you need to call Andie at this point. They have a similar operating temp to the Hawk HP+ which I trakced 3 different events with no fade. I ran Ferodo DS3000's at the Expo and then put on the Cobalts in plce of the Ultimates whenI got home. For Auto-X/stree you won't oevrheat the GT Sports and they modulate well enough that locking a wheel up was practically on purpose.
I woudl suggest highly giving these a shot. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for. I'd even buy them from you if they weren't they are that good.

Tell you what Ray. I have a set of Axxis in my garage. I will send them to you. You buy the GT Sports. Try both out and I will take the Axxis back or pay your $30 for the GT sports . . .
PS: you get to pay the shipping

haha, thanks for the offer. But that sounds like lots of trouble. Since neither one I plan to buy will be strictly for autox/track, it doesn't really make a difference. I will tend to buy the GT-Sport if it has slightly more track advantage because it will be a one-time backup if the CCX fails. I will go DSP3000 after this for track.
