Front Exhaust Pipe on 90 Accord
I just noticed a small hole in the braided section of my front exhaust pipe. One Meineke dealer wants $275 to replace the whole pipe . Another Meineke dealer in the area said he can replace just the braided section. I didn't know that the braided section could be changed. Has any one ever heard of this and is it a good Idea. I can get a pipe from NAPA for $105 but the bolts on the cat converter are rusted down to being pointed and I'm afraid of breaking them off. thanks

if only the Braided section is leading you are a lucky basXard..just joking
the thing is called a flex pipe, come with number of sizes, stock flex pipe should be under 2 in diameter, most of the muffler shop will do it for 30-40 buck welded, you dont need a hold replacement anyway.

I just hate to spend the extra $170 to have the pipe replaced. Does anyone know if the exhaust header bolts holding the exhaust pipe on have a habit of breaking off or do they come off pretty easily. They don't look to rusted. Also the studs on the cat are rusted to hell. Do the studs srcew out or can I just punch them out. thanks Jim
go get yourself some headers...
thats what i did on my accord
everyone wants to over charge you for a downpipe so you might as well pay the extra for some headers...
i got some ractive headers they are great! btw the ractive logo snaps off with pliers
